Lists in Text Fields

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to create a drop-down list of "legal" entries in one of the custom Text fields in MS Project?

Thanks

Pete

Re: Lists in Text Fields

Hello Pete,

I don not know the version of MS project, you are using? I assume that you are using MS Project 2003 professional. Here are the instructions, to how you can create the drop-down list for Custom Text fields you add.

Step 1: Select the Custom Text column (Whole column) "Legal" you have created.

Step 2: Right click and on the pop-up menu select "Customize Fields" menu item. A new dialog opens, then perform Step 3.

Step 3: In the section "Custom Attributes" select the option in front of "Value List". This activates "Value List" Button.

Step 4: Click "Value List" Button a new dialog opens, then perform Step 5.

Step 5: Type in the values you want in the "Value" and "Description" columns, these will show up in drop-down list later. If you want a default entry for the custom text filed Select the option "Use a value from the list as default entry for my field" and select the value you want as default value.

Step 6: Additionally if you want any new values dynamically added to the list when you are creating your task  in the project Select options " Allow additional items to be entered in the field"; "Append new entries to the value list"; "Prompt before adding new entries".

Step 7: Click "OK" on all dialogs to save your settings.

Hope these instructions will help you in creating what you wanted.

Thanks,
