Building Workforce Strength and Thriving Careers  
Projects succeed when embedded in effective organizations.  A key component of this effectiveness is a strong workforce with needed capabilities, the flexibility to adjust according to changing circumstances and a culture of on-going development.  This session will provide project managers with perspectives about building workforce strength including aspects of developing thriving careers both their own and those of others.
Background  

Ron Elsdon is founder and President of Elsdon, Inc.  Ron specializes in the workforce and career development fields, providing organizational consulting, individual career counseling and coaching, public speaking, publishing and lecturing.  Ron has more than 25 years of leadership experience at diverse organizations in a broad range of sectors, and has been an adjunct faculty member at several universities.  He has authored numerous publications and has spoken regularly at national and regional events in the career and workforce development fields.  With his co-author Ron was awarded the Walker Prize by the Human Resource Planning Society.  He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University, a Master’s degree in Career Development from John F. Kennedy University, and a first class honors degree in Chemical Engineering from Leeds University.

Rita Erickson is an organizational development consultant and career coach with more than 15 years of experience working in high technology, professional services and healthcare environments focused on aligning individual passion and talent with evolving organizational strategy.  A former economist, Human Resources manager, executive recruiter, industry analyst, and project manager, she currently leads Elsdon Inc.’s organizational career development initiative within a major healthcare organization.  She thrives in organizations experiencing transformational change, where she coaches clients to discover and leverage their strengths, build future capability, and create sustainable competitive advantage.  Rita holds a Master of Science in Organizational Behavior with Honors from Benedictine University, a graduate certificate in Career Development from John F. Kennedy University, and a BA in Economics with Highest Distinction from the University of Illinois.
